Day 243 – Lightscape
From the Chicago Tourism website (funny thing is, without even seeing the web site, the shot I took was almost identical to the one on the promo!)
“This winter, Chicago Loop Alliance introduces Lightscape, a one-of-a-kind light and sound installation on State Street that creates vibrant patterns of color, choreographed to music. Located in twelve planters from Lake to Van Buren, Lightscape features clusters of 50 to 100 LED lights each. Between 8 am and 11 pm each day, the installation’s embedded speakers broadcast musical selections and special announcements, as lights change patterns in synchronization with songs.
Lightscape is designed to be a year-round attraction that will break new ground in branding and placemaking, celebrating Chicago’s historic State Street in a new and exciting way. Additionally, by using low-energy LED lights in place of costly temporary holiday lighting displays, Lightscape advances Chicago’s standing as a leader in smart energy use.”
